I tried to be a well rounded student inDec 08 2002Natural Resources
I tried to be a well rounded student in high school. Get good grades, participate in extra curricular activities in and out of school, get a job - basically learn how to balance lots of things at once, that will prepare you for college. Don't forget to fill out the application and send it in early. The earlier the better. UMD is harder to get into now than ever before.
SAT: 1140 Female
I had a lot of activitiesDec 08 2002Architecture
I had a lot of activities. I played 3 sports in High School, I was in 2 4-H clubs and held office positions in the clubs, and I was a girl scout for awhile. I wasn't in any of the school clubs but I guess they would help too. I think SAT's really helped but I didn't go crazy with them I just bought one of those books to refresh my memory on math I hadn't done since Freshman year. My GPA was a low A and my class rank was in the top 30%.
SAT: 1330 Female
I didn't do anything special to get in, justNov 26 2002Physics
I didn't do anything special to get in, just filled out the forms with a generic essay. Now, it might be slightly more difficult because the "ratings" of the university keep going up.
SAT: 1380 Female
I was lucky enough to do extremely well onAug 30 2002Psychology
I was lucky enough to do extremely well on my SAT plus live in-state. They are getting very strict about the numbers (GPA, SAT/ACT) so of course, do as well as you can. They seem to like SAT better than GPA, which is unfortunate, because it rewards test-taking ability and not hard work. If you're determined, you can get in...send extra things along with your applications like recommendations or samples of your work if you have a specific major. They may not read it, but it will be in the backs of their heads that someone is really trying hard.
SAT: 1510 Female
